Ramales is one of the main towns in the region of Ason.
It has been growing in recent times with an increasingly thriving tourism, attracted by the high value of its natural environment, for its convenient location, and the impressive valley formed by the river from its source in Ason Ason, to the nearby Ampuero .

Points of Interest

Of the many unique buildings highlights:
The church of San Pedro, which is located in a beautiful square of Branches, forming a set of great beauty with the rest of nineteenth-century houses that are located nearby. It was built in 1633 but has undergone major reforms since that date. The interior has a good reredos Churrigueresque (by 1727) of one body and twisted columns, the work of Bernardo de Lombera and Francisco de Alvarado.
Religious architecture Gibaja point out the church, begun in the early sixteenth century, making it the oldest in the municipality. Its construction continued throughout much of the next century. In the town of Guardamino, find another church, built in the XVII century inside a Madonna and Child, XV century Gothic.
As far as civil architecture are concerned, the highlight of Branches is the Revillagigedo Palace, construction of the sixteenth century, although profoundly reformed in the eighteenth century. It has four floors and two lateral towers

29 June, St. Peter the Apostle and St. Valentine. Branches is held in Victoria.
30 June, Valentine’s Day. Held at the Victoria Branches
Early July, La Verbena’s shawl. This is a unique celebration of Madrid air, declared of Regional Tourist Interest, which has its climax in a parade of Manila shawls with schottische to the sound of organ. The origin of this verbena, is traced back to the Carlist defeat in battle May 1839 fire that marks the history of Branches. He said that his flight left the army defeated a chest full of shawls later Espartero was distributed among the local youths. The party would have been born as a parade of exaltation of the liberal side, and would later become an exotic import in the folklore of the capital. It takes place on Saturday following the festivities of St. Peter the Apostle and St. Valentine (29 and 30 June).

Potes

Potes is the capital and main town of the Liébana. Important cultural and tourist center, celebrated the festival in October and in September Orujo the exaltation of the Holy Cross. Located 117 km from Santander and well connected to other municipalities lebaniegos, very close to the Parque Nacional de Picos de Europe, the Parador de Fuente Dé and the monastery of Santo Toribio.

Bárcena Mayor

Belongs to the municipality of Los Tojos. It is situated 495 m. altitude in the Valle del Saja, who belongs to the region of Sakha-Nansa along the river Argoza. Accessed via a local road that leaves the Tojo and after 10 km you reach the village where the road ends. Located 62 km from Santander. Is at the heart of the Parque Natural de Saja-Besaya.

Pas Valley Cantabria

In the valley of the Pas find traces in the historical traces left by the first inhabitants of the Lower Paleolithic, medium and high in the caves of Mount Castle Bridge Viesgo. Other archaeological surveys have not provided significant material even though it is known the existence of a Roman road that connected with Portus Juliobriga Victoriae (Santander), which fell by entering the port of the shield in this Valley.

Miera Valley Cantabria

The first human settlements in the Valley of Miera are evident in the remains found at Cueva del Rascaño in Mirones, dating from the Aurignacian period (30,000 BP), have since witnessed the Solutrean occupations (19,000 BP) and azilense (AP 9000).

Pisueña Valley Cantabria

In the valley of Pisueña found no traces of human occupation prior to the medieval period although there are areas close to the important set of Puente Viesgo with prehistoric remains of the Paleolithic or earlier in the Lower Cave at Salitre Miera and in the mountains Cabarga of where remains have been found, such as boiler Cabárceno, copper container that was used to mine workings. These findings force us to think that this valley had to be inhabited or at least be known by these men during the prehistoric times and in later times, though not until the beginning of the Middle Ages when they appear the first and remains the earliest written references of this valley.
