The Fiesta ‘Cantabrian Wars’ takes as reference the events over two thousand years (years 29 -19 AC.), Primarily in the Great War in the years 27-25 BC, in which the emperor Caesar Augustus fought the Cantabrians in our land, in order to subdue the only people who had resisted the domination of Rome.

The reason that has prompted the organization of this event is the fact that the valley of Buelna was undoubtedly place among others, the Roman presence, so is attested by some works left by this people

· Tarriba Camp in San Felices de Buelna

· Fresneda Calzada de Los Corrales de Buelna (which was part of the access road from Segisamo (Sasamón to Portus Blendium (Suances)

· And otherwise pre-Roman vestiges of Mount Dobra

· And possibly the recently discovered hot springs at the Spa Caldas de Besaya.

To this we must add the archaeological discovery in the nearby valley Iguña (Pedredo Taverns and coins) and the forts of Water Cueto, Alto del Cueto, Espina del Gallego and Cildo camps and nearby Canton.

The objectives pursued with this conclusion, there are others:

· Willing to give as we have said, the valley of Buelna, about festivals that characterize and distinguish it from the rest of the region and are historical reference for our district and all Cantabria

· And getting the same spirit of its people and the inhabitants of the Valley are proud of their historical origins and are turning to their culture, heritage of the future for Buelna.
